Saint Ferdinand III was the King of Castile from 1217 and King of León from 1230. Through his second marriage he was also Count of Aumale. Charlemagne, Charles the Great, King of Franks, and Emperor of Western Europe, was born in 742 A.D., and became a famous commander in one of the great centers of power in history: The Sacred Roman Empire. Charlemagne's empire was based on the fighting strength of the Franks, a confederation of barbarian tribes from the land of the Rhine in German. They fulfilled the emptiness of power after the fall of the Roman Empire. Their insatiable ambition, sometimes increased due to the goal of extending Christendom, led them to France, Germany, Italy and many other territories. An aggressive conqueror, wise politician, statesman, and fortunate General, Charlemagne set the shape of the vast empire that, in a different way, has reached to modern times.

Attila (A.D. 406–453), also known as Attila the Hun, was the Emperor of the Huns from 434 until his death in 453. Attila the Hun was leader of the Hunnic Empire which stretched from Germany to the Ural River and from the River Danube to the Baltic Sea. During his rule, Attila the Hun was one of the most fearsome of the Western and Eastern Roman Empires' enemies: Attila the Hun invaded the Balkans twice and marched through Gaul (modern France) as far as Orleans before being defeated at the Battle of Chalons. Attila the Hun refrained from attacking either Constantinople or Rome. His story, that the Sword of Attila had come to his hand by miraculous means, was reported by the Roman Priscus.

History, legends, and films (Conan), remind us of the Slavic, German, and Frank origin tribes that, from the third century to the eighth century, devastated the land of Europe, conquering even Rome. Called the "Barbarians" due to their uncivilized customs, this term happened to reach diabolical connotations for their rude and savage nature. The Barbarian sword depicts a winged two-headed dragon. In a world where strength was the law, Barbarian swords were robust and powerful, a symbol of authority and respect. This group of tribes ruled in a fragmented way, and lacked a strong political organization in Europe until the beginning of Charlemagne's empire.

The Scottish Claymore Sword was the typical weapon of the Highland warriors since the late Middle Age, 15th to 17th century. This large two-handed broad sword, (from the Gaelic Claideah-more=great sword), was considered a rough tool, although effective, as the users. It was King Jacob I's effective use of the Claymore sword that made it one of the symbols of national scottish pride. The Claymore sword, feared because of its size and strength, was used in the constant clan wars as well as against the English as late as the Rebellion of 1745.
