The Tachi Meiji Samurai sword is a high quality replica reproduction of the original held in the Marto private collection that dates back to the Meiji age, starting with the imperial power restoration in 1868. The scabbard and the handgrip are made in ivory like resin, finely engraved with mythological scenes which mainly depict dragons. The scabbard is also provided with two hanger rings used to carry the sword suspended with the cutting edge toward the ground, a modality known as "jindachi zukuri", opposed to the "buke zukuri", instead the typical way of carrying a katana, that is with the blade toward the sky.

The Edo age characterizes itself as a long period of peace with the consequent decadence of the samurai figure. The stylistic evolution of the weapons produced during those centuries, reflects this situation: in fact the katana sword showed here has both the scabbard and the handgrip made in ivory (resin in the reproduction), engraved with scenes of daily life, that denote a ceremonial function and not a fighting one.

Fine miniature reproduction of a bust standing on a pedestal, equipped with armour (gusoku), helmet (kabuto) provided with a war mask (somen) and shield, worn by a Samurai warrior of the 17th century, protagonist of the last battles for the predominance in Japan. The struggle ended after the peace imposed by Tokugawa clan. Bust and pedestal are made in plastic materials, while the equipment is made in cast metal with components in burnished silver or golden finish.
