The Paul Chen Swept Hilt Schlaeger Renaissance Rapier Sword by Hanwei utilizes the SCA ( Society for Creative Anachronism) combat approved 37" Schlager blade. The tapered blade provides superior balance compared to the traditional parallel sided schlagers of the same length, making for a faster sword. The high-carbon steel blade provides good flexibility and is button-tipped for safety.
This Renaissance style Rapier Sword traces its origin to early 17th century Europe, where fencing swordplay with the Rapier was considered an essential part of a gentleman's education and was often used in resolving gentlemanly disagreements. Blades generally originated in one of the blade making centers such as Toledo or Solingen, but differences in styling and hilt materials resulted from the local manufacturing of hilts all over Europe.
This fully functional rapier sword is tailored to meet the demands of re-enactment and stage combat.
